In fiecare zi de 'Day1' se va juca pina vor ramine 800 de jucatori.

      Day 1A

Pentru prima oara in istoria WSOP, participantii au un buton de all-in si nu mai sint nevoiti sa impinga toate fisele in fata.

Primul jucator a fost eliminat dupa 7 minute.

55 de femei in prima zi.

Andy Bloch raises to $125 preflop from early position and Jeff Smith calls from the button. The player in the big blind also calls and the flop comes [10c][10d][5c]. The big blind checks and Bloch bets out $200. Smith raises to $500 and the button folds. Bloch calls and the turn puts the [5h] on the board. Bloch checks and the Smith bets $600. Bloch raises to $1,600 and Smith calls. The river is the [qs] and Bloch pushes all-in for $7,500. Smith asks if he is allowed to show his cards to Bloch in an attempt to get a read. He is informed that this is against the rules and would result in a penalty. Smith then asks Bloch if he has pocket Queens. Bloch does not respond and Smith eventually folds. Bloch is now up to $14,000.

Ryan Fisler re-raises his opponent all-in on a board of [7c][7d][5s][10d][8s]. His opponent quickly calls and flips over [10c][10s], for the second nuts, a full house, 10's over 7's. Fisler then flips over [7s][7h] for quad 7's. Not only is his opponent in shock, but now he's left with only $900 in chips. After this hand, Fisler is sitting with roughly $16,000.

On a board of [jc][10s][9s], a player bets $500 and Amir Vahedi ($11,000) raises to $1,500. Wayne Boyd ($10,000) re-raises to $2,000 more and the first bettor moves all-in for $5,000 total. Vahedi also pushes all-in over the top for $9,000 and Boyd calls. Vahedi flips up [9h][9c] for a set, Boyd shows [ksqc] for a straight and the other player turns over 8-7 for a lower straight. The turn and river come [as][8c], upgrading Boyd's straight and giving him the pot. Boyd is now up to $25,000, while Vahedi stack is down to $700 and the other player is eliminated.

Michael Mizrachi re-raises an opponent in early position to $2,500 and David Benyamine calls all-in for his last $2,000. The early position player folds and Mizrachi shows [js][jc]. Benyamine shows [as][kd] and the players are racing. The board comes [9d][9s][4d][7s][8d] and Benyamine is eliminated early on today's championship event. Mizrachi is now up to $13,500.

Paul "Eskimo" Clark is short stacked, putting his last $100 chip in preflop, and going against three other players heading into the flop. The board comes down [qc][6h][2c][6s][2s], and on the river one opponent bets out all remaining players. He pulls down the sidepot, then shows the [qh][10c]. Clark will need to show a either a queen with a better kicker, aces, kings, a six or a deuce. He reveals the [ac][10h], however, and is eliminated.

Mike Sexton raises to $350 preflop on the button with four players already in. All four call and the flop comes [qh][5d][3c]. It is checked to Sexton, who bets $800 and gets one caller. The turn puts the [10d] on the board and Sexton's opponent again checks. Sexton shoots out a $1,750 bet and is called by his opponent. The river brings the [9d] and it is again checked to Sexton. Sexton tries again and bets $2,500. His opponent folds and Sexton takes down a relatively large pot, now sitting with $12,500.

Joe Sebok has arrived at the tournament dressed as "Robin" from the Batman and Robin comic book. Sebok lost a bet to Gavin Smith on who would perform the best during the preliminary events at the 2006 WSOP. Sebok must make an appearance dressed as a different super-hero for each day of the main event (Smith gets to choose which character).

La masa featured ESPN cel mai cunoscut este Scotty Nguyen.

On a board showing [qh][8s][2h], Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi bets $1,100 and Ben Roberts calls. The turn puts the [10h] on the board and both players check. The river brings the Aclub and Mizrachi bets to $1,600. Roberts raises to $3,200 and Mizrachi calls, showing [7h][5h] for a flush. Roberts mucks and Mizrachi takes down the pot to put his stack at $18,850. Roberts is now down to $3,850.

Tobey Maguire raises to $600 preflop and his opponent re-raises to $1,600. Maguire calls and the flop comes [Ac][Qd][9c]. Maguire checks and his opponent bets $1,200, which Maguire calls. The turn is the [jh] and Maguire pushes all-in for his remaining $2,000. His opponent calls and shows [qh][qs], while Maguire flips up [as][10h]. The river puts the [10s] on the board, giving Maguire two pair, which is not enough against his opponent's set of Queens and Maguire is eliminated from the tournament.

Gus Hansen raises to $600 under-the-gun and a player in mid-position calls. The player in the big blind also calls and the flop comes [ah][7h][5c]. The big-blind player checks and Hansen shoots out with a $1,250 bet. The mid-position player folds and the big blind player moves all-in, having Hansen covered. Hansen calls all-in for his last $6,125 and shows [ad][qd] for top pair. His opponent flips up [8h][5h] for a flush draw. The turn puts the [3d] on the board and the river brings the [7d] and Hansen's Aces hold up. Hansen more than doubles up and now sits with $17,625.

On a board showing [Kd][Jd][10d][Ad][8c], Mike Sorrentino bets $2,000 and Ben Roberts takes some time before mucking his hand. Sorrentino opts to show his hand, [As][Qd], which gave him the royal flush. Sorrentino's stack is now up to $35,500.

On a board of [Ac][Kh][9d], with $4,000 already in the pot, Clonie Gowen pushes all-in for her remaining $2,400. Her sole opponent calls and shows [As][3s] for a pair of Aces. Gowen flips up pocket Queens and will need to improve. The turn is the [9s] and the river is the [2d], not helping Gowen and eliminating her from the tournament.

Jack Mahalingam is all-in for $5,000 and is called an opponent in late position. Mahalingam shows [8s][8c] and his opponent has [5h][5c]. The flop is [6s][5s][5d] and his opponent flops quads. The turn is a [9s] giving Mahalingam a gut-shot straight flush draw (his only way to win). The river is the [7s] giving Mahalingam the straight flush and the hand.

Dan Harrington is eliminated from today's event. He was greeted by a round of applause as he stood up and walked away from his table. Mike Sexton's [qh][qc] beat Harrington's [jh][7h] when the board brought a fourth heart on the river.

            DAY 1B

Today marks Doyle Brunson's 30th anniversary of his first championship bracelet. Texas Dolly has just announced for the dealers to shuffle up and deal. The cards are in the air, and day 1B has officially begun.

            1st Elimination, 1st Hand

Greg Nunley raises to $225 and Mark Lawlor re-raises to $600. Nunley re-raises to $1,500 and Lawlor makes it $3,000 to go. Nunley goes all-in and Lawlor makes the call. Nunley shows [Kc][Kd] and Lawlor shows [Ah][Ad]. The board comes [Jh][10c][2d][7s][3d], and Nunley is our first elimination of the day.

            Has Anyone Seen Hellmuth?

ESPN is featuring Table 100 today. The player in seat 5 has yet to arrive...but we can probably expect Phil Hellmuth sometime within the next two hours. He will be playing for his eleventh bracelet.

            AA vs. KK vs. QQ

A player under the gun raises to $150. Jarret McMillan re-raises to $400. Michael Hasday, in the big blind, makes it $3,900 to go. The under the gun player goes all-in while McMillan folds. Hasday makes the call and shows [As][Ah]. The under the gun player shows [Qd][Qc] and McMillan mucks K-K. The board comes [Kd][Jd][3s][2h][10h], and Michael Hasday eliminates an opponent and boosts his stack to $22,400. McMillan folded the winning hand.

            Brunson Minimizes Loss

Doyle Brunson and his opponent check a board of [Jh][6h][5h][2h]. On the river ([Jc]), Brunson's opponent bets $600 and Brunson calls. His opponent shows [Kh][Kc] for the second nut flush. Brunson shows A-A without the [Ah] and expresses how glad he is that they didn't get all of their chips in pre-flop.

            Celebrity Table
Dax Shepherd of Punk'd and Brad Garrett of Everybody Loves Raymond are both seated at Table 201.
            -
A player from the 5 seat raises $250 before the flop, and David Williams just flat calls his bet. The flop comes [Kh][7s][6s], and the 5 seat bets $600, Williams calls. The turn comes [2s], and the 5 seat bets $1,000, and Williams calls. The river brings the [10d], seat 5 bets $1,000, and Williams says, "I'll just call." Williams flips over [10s][10h], for a set, and the 5 seat turns over [Ah][As]. Williams says, "It was for the camera.", as there was an ESPN film crew looking on. Williams rakes the pot and brings his chip count up to $10,300. He looks back to the cameraman and says, "Keep that camera running, I'm playing another pot here buddy."

            Brunson Wins Big Pot

With $2,500 in the pot the board reads [Jh][8c][5h][6h]. Doyle Brunson ($8,000) bets $1,000 from the small blind. His opponent in the cut off position ($7,000) calls. The [4d] falls on the river and Brunson leads out with $2,000. His opponent calls and Brunson shows [9h][7d] for a straight. Brunson improves to $12,200 while his opponent has $3,250.

Rafe Furst Makes A Great Laydown

A player in middle position re-raises Rafe Furst to $1,500 and Furst makes the call. The flop comes [10d][6d][3d] and his opponent bets $3,000. Furst immediately folds [Qh][Qs] face up. His opponent shows [Ad][Ac]. Furst is down to $11,200.

Caro Gets Slapped...by Himself, but Wins Pot

A player from middle position raises to $500. Another player calls. Mike "The Mad Genius" Caro raises $1,500. While the initial raiser is thinking Caro says, "I'm probably playing too aggressive. I should slow down, starting in the middle of this hand." He then puts out his hand and slaps it twice saying, "Bad genius! Bad!" The initial raiser folds and the other player calls. The flop comes [Qd][6s][2s]. Caro was apparently bluffing about slowing down, as he bets $2,025 putting his opponent all in. Caro's opponent immediately folds. Caro is up to $25,000 while his opponent has $1,925.

Eric Firestone Hits a Royal Flush

On a flop of [Ad][Qh][10d] an opponent bets $500. Eric Firestone raises to $1,500. His opponent reraises to $4,500 and Firestone calls. Both players check a turn of the [Kd] and the river is the [6s]. Firestone goes all-in and his opponent folds two pair. Firestone shows [Qd][Jd] for a royal flush and builds his stack to $15,600

            Phil Hellmuth Eliminated
Phill Hellmuth was all-in with A-Q, versus an opponent's pocket 7s. The 7s hold up, and a once short-stcked Phill Hellmuth is now eliminated.

            Gavin Smith Eliminated
            Shannon Elizabeth Eliminated

            Williams Eliminates Opponent
With a board reading [Ac][9d][7d] and about $4,500 already in the pot, David Williams bets enough to put his opponent all-in for about $3,000 more. His opponent calls, showing pocket Kings. Williams turns up [Ah][7h]. The turn and river fail to improve his opponent and David Williams takes down the pot. He now sits with $18,200.

On a board showing [Ac][7h][2c], with $3,000 in the pot, Robert Ozeran pushes all-in for his remaining $1,650. Brad Garrett, Ozeran's sole opponent, considers his hand in typical Brad Garrett fashion. ESPN cameras and Card Player reporters stand near the table to catch the action. "Go away! Why don't you go to Phil Hellmuth's house? He's home!" (Hellmuth had busted just over an hour ago).

After considering his hand for a minute more, the fire alarm goes off in the Amazon Room and Garrett yells, "Doyle (Brunson), can you turn your oxygen machine down?" Garrett then calls and shows [10c][10d], while Ozeran flips up [As][Jc] for a pair of Aces and the lead. The turn and river come [8d] and [Qs] and Ozeran takes down the pot to double up to $6,300. Garrett is now down to $5,000.

After the hand, Garrett drops the F-bomb and then covers his mouth. A tournament director is standing right behind him and gives him a warning, which prompts an argument from the rest of the table because two others sitting there had already gotten penalties for a language violations and had not received warnings. The warning stood and the other players at the table were assured that fairness would be observed. Garrett also reassured them, "Don't worry, I'll be out soon."

            Brunson's Grandson Busts Brad Garrett

True to his word, Brad Garrett busts out of the tournament just over 20 minutes after he told his table he would. Ironically, after hazing Doyle Brunson at his roast two nights ago and then yelling friendly insults to him across the room all day today, it was Brunson's grandson that eventually knocked him out.

Jeff Veach eliminates Garrett when his K-10 runs into Garrett's suited A-Q. Garrett ends up hitting his flush on the hand, but Veach takes it down when he completes a full house. Garrett let Brunson in on the irony by yelling the news across the room.

Players will now be on a dinner break until 8:15 pm PST.

"Two unknwon players were involved in an interesting pot. Player 1 moved all-in for his last $1,525, with pocket 4's, and Player 2 called with K-J. The flop came K-Q-J giving Player 2 two pair. Player 1 started walking away from the table, but the turn was an ace and the river was a ten, putting an ace high straight on the board. The pot was split and Player 1 was called back to the table."

                  DAY 1C

                  First Player Eliminated
Robert Burton has the honor of eliminating the first player of the day - just three minutes into play - when his J-J beats his opponent's 3-3 on a board of J-4-3-7-9

John Phan raises pre-flop, and he is called by Joe Berry and Sam Farha. The flop comes [9h][6h][4h], Phan raises, Berry calls, and Farha re-raises. Phan folds and Berry smooth calls. The turn brings another 6, and once again, Farha bets into Berry who just calls. The river brings a 10, and Farha moves all-in. Berry calls and Farha flips over pocket 9s for a full house. Berry shows pocket 6s, and Farha can't believe his opponent turned quads against his top set. Farha is eliminated.

                  Raymer Can't Get Going
Greg Raymer has been battling to accumulate chips all day. After falling to the $7,000 mark, Raymer goes into another battle. The board reads [Ah][10d][7c][Js]. Tyler Wong bets $600 and Raymer calls. The river is the [Kd] and Wong bets $1,500. Raymer throws his cards into the muck and says he hopes Wong flopped a set. Raymer is down to $5,700 and Wong has $4,800.

                  Esfandiari Stays Alive
From the small blind, Antonio Esfandiari moves all in against the players in the cut off and on the button. The cut off thinks for a few moments, during which Esfandiari needles him, saying, "If you call I show you the nuts, if you fold I show a bluff." The cut off continues to ponder, then moves all in for approximately $7,000. The button mucks, and Esfandiari reveals his [As][3c]. He needs some help against the cut off's [8c][8s]. First Disqualification of the Series

A player has just been disqualified from the main event. He was putting chips into his pocket when he was caught by a floorman. The player claimed that he was told he could transfer his chips in his pocket, but the tournament director explained why it was against the rules at the World Series. If a player takes tournament chips out of sight, they are no longer in play. This is done to prevent chip dumping and counterfeit chips from entering tournament play. The player has been disqualified, and the floorman went on to say that this was the first disqualification of it's kind for this year's WSOP. Last year, a player was also eliminated by carrying his chips in his pocket. His chips were confiscated and removed from play. If a player were to only put some of his chips in his pocket, only those chips would be removed, and he would still be able to continue playing with the remainder of his chips. When players are moved or tables are broken, the tournament directors make sure to give the players chip racks and tell them not to remove the chips from sight. The eye in the sky is always watching.

The action folds back around to the original raiser who pushes all-in for an additional $5,050. Mortensen thinks for a short time before calling, showing Q-Q. Her opponent shows A-K offsuit, and they are off to the races. The flop comes 10-9-2. The turn brings a Jack and the river brings a 5. Cecilia Mortensen now sits with $24,000.

                          Craziness at Table 127

Shortly afterwards, Hank Azaria raises to $600 in middle position. Pete "The Beat" Giordano, raises him to $1,600. When the action gets around to Azaria, he re-raises to $5,600. Giordano immediately goes all-in and has Azaria covered. Azaria has $2,900 left, and he asks Giordano if he has Aces. Giordano says he doesn't know, but that he would like Azaria to stick around for awhile. Azaria is torn on his decision. He already has about 2/3 of his chips in the middle, but he hesitates to make a decision. The cameras swarm around him, and he eventually folds the [Ks][Kd] face up. Giordano tells him he made a good decision, and turns over the [As][Ah]. Michael O'Deh, who is one table over, comes over to tell him what a great laydown he made. Someone tells O'Deh that even celebrities can play, considering Rene Angelil made the same laydown earlier in the day. Unfortunately, O'Deh doesn't know who Azaria is, and asks for his credits. Azaria doesn't seem to be in the mood, but he does a few voices from The Simpsons, including Chief Wiggum and Moe Sizlak.

The next two hands, Azaria takes down both pots and builds himself right back up to $5,000 in chips.
